‘Los Molinos de la Plana de Jávea’ or The Mills of the Plana de Jávea are a collection of flour mills that were built over 100 years ago. They are said to be the largest flour mills built in the Valencian Community, measuring approximately 7 meters high and 6 meters in diameter. The mills were originally built to accommodate the large amount of wheat being processed in the area, due to Javeas largely agricultural economy at the time. Wheat and other rainfed crops such as almond and olive trees were huge driving points for Javea leading to the construction of the mills.
The location of the mills is in between Mt Montgó and the Cap de Sant Antoni, roughly 190 meters up in the Flat Sant Jeroni. The reason that the mills were placed here was due to the almost constant windflow, enabling the mills to do their job! All 11 mills can be seen today, however at varying distances as some of them now lay on privately owned ground.
Most of them no longer have their roofs or blades however they are now protected, controlled and subject to regulations as they are now classified an asset of cultural interest. You cannot drive directly to the mills but instead must complete a small walk in order to see them up close, but it’s definitely worth it bearing in mind all the historical significance of these old beauties!

How to get to the Mills of the Plana de Javea

Head southwest on the ‘Avenida Arenal’ and take the 1st exit on the roundabout joining ‘Ctra. del Cap de la Nau Pla’, then take the 2nd exit on the following roundabout and continue straight. At the next roundabout, you will once again take the 2nd exit and follow the road until you reach the next roundabout, where you will take the 2nd exit. Take the 2nd exit at the following 2 roundabouts, followed by the 1st exit on the next one. Follow ‘Avinguda del Trenc d’Alba’ to the next roundabout, where you will take the 1st exit and follow the road as it turns right after just over 100m, becoming ‘Ronda Sud’.
The road will bear left becoming ‘C. Trinquete’ and then left once again becoming ‘Calle Rda. Nte’, where you should then take the following right joining ‘Carrer de la Mare de Déu dels Ángels’. Continue until you reach the roundabout taking the 1st exit to join ‘Ctra de Denia’ or the ‘CV-736’. After just under 2km, the road will fork into 2. You should take the right hand road. After 800m turn right and continue to the end of the road. Anywhere at the end of the road would be considered suitable parking as the mills should be approximately 100m in front of you!

La Corona area in Javea
Urbanisation La Corona in Javea has a good infrastructure, a social club, sports facilities and a playground for children. Located just 2/3 km from the port of Javea. La Corona area is famous for its impressive luxury villas and the houses built are exceptional, many with architectural projects with style from villas with marked Mediterranean style to modern villas with large windows that allow panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the entire bay of Jávea, Costa Blanca.
Urbanisation La Corona in Javea has still some plots for sale to build, taking into account that they are sloping land, since they are located on the mountain and most of them need to make important clearings in order to get the most out of the views. It is practically impossible to find flat plots, although there are some but at exorbitant prices that not everyone is willing to pay.
It is very close to the Port area – Duanes de la mar de Javea. It has a good infrastructure and facilities. Most villas are luxurious with wonderful views of the bay of Jávea and Cabo la Nao. Normally prices are around a million euros upwards, it is also true that some can be found below that price but either because it needs to be reformed or because they do not have any type of views.
