‘Cine Jayan’ is the only all year round cinema in Javea, located approximately 2.5km away from the Arenal Beach, in the Port of Javea. Cine Jayan is open for the majority of the week, showing the latest movies in a variety of languages. Before booking your ticket, you should check their website (link at the bottom) to see which films are showing on what days and in which language!

It’s a spacious, classic style cinema with fairly basic flip down seating, capable of accommodating over 250 viewers at a time. For when you get peckish, Cine Jayan offers a wide selection of snacks, food and drink that can be purchased before the movie begins or during the interval that takes place, mid-way through the film, allowing you to ‘nip’ to the bathroom if need be! Cine Jayan is a fantastic evening out with the family, especially if the weather takes a turn or perhaps you just want a night away from the bars!

Pop up cinema Javea

As previously mentioned, Cine Jayan is the only cinema in Javea to be open all year round, however, in the past you could often find a pop up cinema, located on the arenal beach. ‘Cinema Vora del Mar’ or ‘by the Sea’ in Catalan was set up for entertaining children and parents alike, the outdoors, beach cinema was known to show classic movies throughout the summer months, and was a fantastically unique way to rewatch some of your old favourites with the sand between your toes and stars above your head. Due to the recent Pandemic, no movies have been shown on the Arenal Beach, however we can all hope that it will one day return!

How to get to cinema Javea?

‘Cine Jayan’ is located just over 3.5km NorthWest of the Arenal Beach by road. To get there from the Blanca Cars office one must…

Head southwest on the ‘Avenida Arenal’ and take the 1st exit on the roundabout joining ‘Ctra. del Cap de la Nau Pla’, then take the 2nd exit on the following roundabout and continue straight. At the next roundabout, you will once again take the 2nd exit and follow the road until you reach the next roundabout, where you will take the 1st exit joining ‘C. Milan’. At the roundabout at the end of the road take the 1st exit turning right, then at the following roundabout take the 2nd exit, heading North on the ‘Av de Augusta’.

At the next roundabout take the 1st exit joining ‘Av dels Furs’, and continue until you reach the next roundabout where you will take the 3rd exit and the following 1st exit at the next roundabout. Follow this road as it turns to the left and runs parallel with the promenade and beach. After approximately 130m, take the left hand turn and the cinema will be 60m in front of you on your right hand side. A further 130m down the road you will see a large, dirt field which offers free parking.

Javea port area

Javea Port is well worth a visit. It boasts many shops, restaurants, (tapas) bars and the pretty La Grava peble beach alongside the promenade lined with lovely palmtrees in a relaxed atmosphere. The sculptures on the promenade are changed every year. Located at the north end of the promenade, Javea’s marina still functions as a fishing port with the fishing fleet arriving back in port at least once a day and yachts moored in the same vicinity. A market opens to sell the fresh produce caught by the fishermen. Walk past the harbour and ‘Club Náutico’ and you will come to the small beach named ‘Playa del Pope’ or ‘Playa del Tangó.
